Where the name comes from
Shop.org, the National Retail Federation's online-retail division, introduced the term in a press release in late November 2005, describing the Monday after Thanksgiving as one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. Scott Silverman, Shop.org's executive director, was quoted, and NRF communications staff led by Ellen Davis are usually credited with the name.

Cyber Monday is four days after Thanksgiving and three days after Black Friday, so it falls between November 26 and December 2.
